Lenore Janis, president, Professional Women In Construction, was one of the organization's 12 original founders in 1980. The former owner of a WBE steel erection company, she was the first woman director of the Bureau of Building Management of the NYC Department of Sanitation in the mid 1980s. She has been honored by numerous organizations including the American ORT, and NOW, and recently wrote a chapter on "Women and Construction" for Construction in Cities (CRC Press). An alumna of Bennington College, she received a B.A. degree from Univ. of Connecticut (Storrs) and is a member of the General Society of Mechanics & Tradesmen.She was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame of White Plains High School.
The USWCC University provides class modules live, recordings of live classes, and segments that are simply provided in text and other formats online. Most classes are available for both USWCC members and non-members. Many of our classes are free for USWCC members - and discounted for the fee based classes, events and summits. If you are not a member of the USWCC, we hope you will join us and support our stong efforts on behalf of women.
The classes listed above are all either live virtual meetings (using our web-based and telephone conference system) or live at a physical location (like our summits and workshops). USWCC University of Learning Virtual Meeting and Teleconferences allow you to easily take part in our education and advocacy meetings without leaving your office.
First: Register to attend the meeting.
Second: USWCC member support sends you details for the meeting which include how you dial in for the telephone conference call and the Internet (in our virtual meeting room).
Third: At the time of the meeting, you dial in to the conference call and login to the online meeting room. You may choose to attend via telephone conference call only - or teleconference and online as we often share Powerpoint presentations and web sites.
